Know a rockstar tween having a birthday soon? This Rock ‘n’ Roll Birthday Party is such a fun way for tweens to embrace and celebrate their burgeoning independence with their friends. Plus, it’s just tons of rockin’ fun! Read on to see how I set up this entertaining party, from “stage” entrance to “merch table” favors, and everything in between.
How to Throw a Rock ‘n’ Roll Birthday Party for Tweens
As an OTC blogger, I received compensation and/or products in exchange for my styling and crafting services. As always, all project ideas and any opinions expressed here are my own. For further information on our disclosure policy please check out our disclosure page.
Photo Booth Entrance
First, I set up a “stage” in front of our house. This entrance to the party set the scene in a big-impact way. I used a red, white, silver and black balloon garland with a few guitar and star balloons throughout. Underneath it, I added a personalized marquee and “Rock & Roll” backdrop, flanked on either side by large cardboard rock-themed cardboard standups. A few metallic piñatas and disco balls completed the look. This entrance doubled as the perfect photo booth and place for the coolest performances by the girls.
Table Setting
For the hungry rockstars, I set up a low picnic table covered with a star tablecloth. In the center of the table I added a couple of red candles on red metallic stars, with disco balls of various sizes and personalized guitar picks sprinkled on either side. The place settings included gray record place mats, red dinner plates, fun guitar-shaped dessert plates, and black plastic flatware wrapped in black and white napkins and sealed with a rock ‘n’ roll sticker. Red guitar drink cups, “Let’s Rock” mini foam finger favors, and a stick of red rock candy completed the settings.
Dessert Table
Next, I set up the dessert table. I used the same gray star table cover for consistency and topped it with tons of delicious themed desserts on various red and black stands and trays.
Activities & Favor Station
To keep everyone entertained, I set up some games and a table for decorating guitar cutouts and more. You can get more info on all of the party activities HERE.
Before the rockstars headed home, they stopped by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Party “merch” station I set up for them. I used a red grid wall to hang another personalized marquee sign, some band t-shirts, VIP lanyards, and more rock-themed decor. Then I added a few stands covered with all sorts of themed favors, including guitar and microphone trophies that served as awards for the best rock performances of the day!
