Hosting Halloween parties is one of my favorite things, particularly because I get to go wild and decorate my entire home in whatever spooky theme I choose. This year, I decided to turn my house into an eerie-yet-elegant Haunted Mansion, complete with a ghostly butler serving drinks from a Haunted House Halloween Bar Cart. Read on to see how I set up this delightfully dark drink station!
How to Decorate your Haunted House Halloween Bar Cart
As an OTC blogger, I received compensation and/or products in exchange for my styling and crafting services. As always, all project ideas and any opinions expressed here are my own. For further information on our disclosure policy please check out our disclosure page.
Backdrop
First, I set the scary scene with a black raven backdrop. I used paper birds and faced them in different directions to give the appearance that they were rapidly scattering and swooping from behind the bar cart. Then, on the wall next to the bar cart, I hung a black and red eyeball wreath to keep watch over the drinks, and a button for guests to “press for poison”.
Props & Decorations
In addition to my wall props, I added tons of additional spooky haunted mansion props. My favorite, of course, was the creepy old ghost butler serving drinks and guarding an old set of mysterious keys. Who knows what he has locked up?! I also added a sinister vulture and a couple of menacing crows to the ensemble. Guests will have to be pretty brave to grab a drink from under their watchful eyes.
Old books, candle holders, pillows, clocks and deep red and black florals added to the vintage vibe. I also used black pumpkins, spiders, skulls and eyeballs to emphasize the Halloween theme.
Drinks
For drinks, I served a blood-red cocktail in a skeleton-arm drink dispenser.
Guests could choose to drink from hollow glass skull cups, or from skeleton-hand champagne flutes I placed on a tray on the top level of the bar cart. Those who desired a bit more of a treat with their Halloween drink could add a black rock candy drink stirrer.
