While I love a traditional Disney party as much as anyone else, I do also enjoy a bit of a dark twist now and then! That’s why I decided to use the dark side of fairy tales to inspire these Disney Villain place settings. From Maleficent’s menacing charm to Ursula’s underwater allure, I came up with creative ways to infuse your table settings with the sinister sophistication of Disney’s most iconic villains.
These place settings would be absolutely perfect for a birthday party for someone who enjoys embracing their dark side, or for a unique Halloween party! Read on to unleash your inner mischief and set the stage for a truly wicked affair that your guests won’t soon forget. Let the villainous festivities begin!
How to Set Disney Villain Place Settings
My talented friend Brenda of FestiveFetti made amazing custom confetti for each of these place settings – be sure to check her shop out!
1 – Ursula
For Ursula’s place setting, I went with a black and lavender color scheme. I painted some starfish black and used the top of a plastic trident toy for table decor in addition to FestiveFetti’s Ursula confetti. Then I layered black and lavender-checkered plates with a shell-shaped dessert plate, topped with a mini cauldron of tentacle finger puppets! These make great party favors, and you can also add some treats to the bottom of the cauldron if you’d like. Next to the plates, I added a black napkin and gold utensils propped up with some red wax lips!

2 – Maleficent
Maleficent’s place setting wouldn’t be complete without her raven, Diablo. I placed a raven napkin on top of a black-striped dessert plate, lime green dinner plate, and lavender charger. Pointy black utensils completed the look.
Along with Maleficent-themed confetti, for this place setting I used a “Mastering Malevolence” book, a raven, one of Maleficent’s horns, a tiny vial of “dragon’s blood”, and a small lavender cauldron for table decor.

3 – Cruella
This one is a favorite of mine. In fact, I styled a whole Cruella party a while back! Mixing black-and-white patterns to give this place setting a fashion feel. With a white fur placemat as a base, I used a striped cup and straw, solid black charger, grid plate, Dalmatian dessert plate, and gingham napkins. Then I tied black and white utensils with some gold chain. FestiveFetti’s cruella confetti added the perfect pop of red to this place setting!

4 – The Evil Queen
When it came to The Evil Queen, I couldn’t settle for just one place setting. I found the perfect bitten apple and poisoned apple plates from Jollity and Co, so I styled them both. They would look great alternating at an Evil Queen-themed party! I placed them on top of aqua plates and ornate black placemats, and paired them with gold utensils and black napkins held together with a crown napkin ring.
A gold hand mirror embellished with the phrase “Mirror, Mirror” makes the perfect party favor for this place setting, and goes perfectly with the Evil Queen FestiveFetti confetti.

5 – The Queen of Hearts
I had a lot of fun with the Queen of Hearts place setting. Rather than being particularly dark like some of the other Villians, the Queen of Hearts has more of a wild Wonderland feel. I used a faux greenery placemat to represent the Queen’s maze of hedges. On top, I placed a red plate layered with a flamingo dessert plate to represent the absurd flamingo croquet mallets used in Wonderland. Then, I added a black and white diamond patterned napkin and a mix of red, white, and black utensils connected with a crown.
This place setting would be perfect for a Queen of Hearts tea party. I used a tea cup and saucer, and added playing cards, FestiveFetti confetti, a pocket watch and a “Through the Looking Glass” book for themed decorations.

6 – Gaston
Disney villains aren’t limited to Queens, of course. For Gaston’s place setting, I wanted to create a bit of a tavern feel, while still tying it to Belle and the overall Beauty and the Beast movie. I used wood-patterned plates layered with red and grid plates. These were topped with a red rose, a yellow napkin reminiscent of Belle’s ballgown, and black utensils tied with ribbon. For drinks, I used a copper mug set atop a Beauty and the Beast book coaster. Then, for extra tavern decor, I set out a few beer barrels surrounded by Gaston confetti.

7 – Jafar
Jafar’s place setting provided an opportunity for a bit of extra opulence. I used plates with ornate edges and gold details. These were styled with a bright red napkin held by a gold snake ring to march Jafar’s scepter. For drinks, I added a matching red wine glass, along with an ornately decorated gold shot glass.
Mini potion bottles and a variety of colorful jewels work with the Jafar-themed confetti to complete the place settings.
