If you couldn’t tell from many of my posts, I am not one to always keep things traditional. I love to mix things up with unexpected colors and themes. However, I do realize that sometimes there is something fun and comforting about traditional decor as well! That’s why I decided to use the layout I used for my Black Cat and Little Ghost Halloween parties to create a Traditional Halloween Party for Kids.
I started out by changing my banner to one that says “Trick or Treat”, from Target, in traditional black and orange Halloween colors. I kept some black star cutouts on either side of the banner to add a little extra flair to my backdrop.
Then, I set up a prop table perfect for Halloween traditionalists. The table included orange, black and purple pumpkins, and a purple skull front and center. I added a little elevated Haunted House and pumpkin that showcased the date, in case anyone forgot- October 31st!
Inspired by Little Shop of Horrors, these fun Peeping Poppies and Biting Blossoms props from Target completed my creepy Halloween prop table.
Finally, I set up a spook-tacular table for the perfect after-school pizza party. The best thing about this table set-up is that it is so easy, AND budget friendly! I found everything I needed for my place settings and table runner at my local Dollar Tree store. Can you believe I was able to create place settings for six for under ten dollars?!
One of the ways I kept this table friendly for my wallet was to create a table runner out of the cute pumpkin and skull cups I found at Dollar Tree, along with lots of fun favors. Not only did it look fantastic, the runner is useful, too. Kids loved having their brainy cups and lots of treats within reach.
What do you think? Are you a traditionalist or do you prefer more unique decor? I might be in the camp of “both”. Can you ever have too many parties?! However you decide to decorate, I hope you have fun!
Happy Halloween!
