Incorporating the bride’s personality into her bridal shower theme is the perfect way to honor her. As a crafter, creator myself I just loved setting up an Artist’s Bridal Shower for the bride that loves to create! This art-themed shower is not only beautiful, it provides guests with an opportunity to make masterpieces to take home with them when they leave. Read on to see how I created this artsy party!
Creative Cake Table
First, I set up a cake table made for a museum with a beautiful DIY backdrop made with watercolors and fine point markers. If you have a habit of doodling then you’ll love creating this!
The cake also had a beautiful watercolor design, with paintbrushes and dollops of swirled meringue “paint” on top. The cake plates and napkins coordinated with the design of the cake itself. Macaroons in bright colors and set on a paint palette tray served as another coordianted dessert option. Finally, I made an adorable DIY Paintbrush Vase for themed decor. Learn how to create the DIY Paintbrush Vase HERE.
TIP: You can easily create an art-themed garland by stringing paintbrushes with pre-existing holes on some ribbon. I hung my paintbrush garland from my bar cart cake table and added some leaves to each side of it for extra elegance.
Artists’ Area
Then, for guests to work up an appetite, they can head over to the artist’s area. I used tables with plastic tablecloths on them, and set up an easel for each guest. I then provided both watercolors and acrylic paints, so guests could choose what they wanted to work with. Pretty pink and silver cups were placed next to each easel to use as water cups for the paintbrushes. Additionally, champagne flutes for some mid-painting sipping! For those whose creativity inspires them to get a bit messier, I set up another area with finger paints and hung paper on the wall. In order to keep the art on the paper and not on guests clothes, I made DIY Personalized Art Aprons for each of them. Find out how to make them HERE.
TIP: For guests who are less artistically inclined, provide stencils they can use to create outlines – they can then simply fill in the outlines with paint and still end up with a fun art piece.
Painted Place Settings
Once guests are done creating their masterpieces, it’s time for lunch! My artsy table used simple scattered paint brushes as a runner, and a gold-painted art form as a centerpiece. The place settings were set in artist trays as chargers. They consisted of watercolor floral plates, napkins, and cups, hammered gold cutlery, and plastic wine glasses. To provide each guest with a favor that also served the practical use of helping them carry their art supplies home, I made DIY Art Tote Favors and hung them on each chair. Get the instructions to make them HERE.
TIP: You can repurpose a paper garland to create individual place cards for your place settings. Simply remove the string, and use stickers or write each guest’s name on each piece of the garland. I set my watercolor floral place cards on mini wooden easels for more of the artsy look.
