A couple years ago, I styled a Halloween party with a soft and whimsical pink, purple, blue and mint color palette. I know it’s not very traditional, but when have I ever stuck with tradition?! In truth, I was inspired by a set of pastel skull candles from Ember Candle Co., and once I got the idea in my head, I couldn’t get it out until I made it happen! Luckily, Confetti Fair shared the love for my non-traditional vision, and featured my Pastel Halloween Party in their Halloween 2018 mini-mag. And luckily for you, if you are also a pastel lover, I’m finally sharing all of the details with you now, as well as an Amazon shopping list where you can find many of the items I used or similar, here on my blog!

How to Create a Pretty Pastel Halloween Party
Deadly Dessert Table
I decided to pair the pastels with black, silver, and geometrics, for a fun 80’s vibe.
First, I spray painted a grid wall lavender to give the backdrop geometric grid lines. Then, I hung a pretty custom-made tassel banner from Glam Fete in front of it.
On each side of the backdrop I hung mint-painted geometric light fittings I had on hand (HERE is a similar option).
Next to those, I placed large pastel pink balloons with matching tassels and a “Trick-or-Treat” decal applied to them – for a “pop” of fun!
I used a mix of faux and real pumpkins to decorate my table. You can find some pastel pumpkins in this set, or get some white faux pumpkins and paint them to perfectly match your color scheme!
Then, I added small geometric skulls on modern acrylic stands in order to tie the pastel skull theme into the dessert table. The exact ones I used are no longer available, but these geometric skull planters would work really well – and you could put a plant in them to add even more to the decor!
A soft, frilly cake from Confection Deception served as the focal point of the dessert table- doesn’t it look almost a bit ghostly? A few of my fabulous friends at Atomic Kraftworks created a custom 3-D skull for me, and it worked so perfectly as a cake topper! I placed the cake on a pastel pink cake stand from Amalfi Decor (HERE is an Amazon option if they are sold out).
Sweet Treat Table Setting
I used a pale grey chiffon runner down the center of the main table. Then, I created a fun “coffin” centerpiece out of a terrarium. I simply spray painted the bottom half in a grey stone color. I love how it turned out!
Then, I filled the coffin with ghostly cookies and yummy pastel sweets from Lolli and Pops. At the back of my centerpiece, I placed a mint cupcake stand with a pink geometric skull on it. In front of it, I placed an amazing genuine grave marker that I found at a vintage store here in Portland.
On each side of the coffin centerpiece, I used those pastel skull candles (the inspiration for the whole party!), placed on various sizes of candleholders, to give some dimension. The clear glass of the candleholders tied in well with the glass and acrylic elements in other areas of the party.
Additionally, I used glass skull candy holders as vases, and filled them with Celosia Cristata, which to me looks just like BRAINS!
Pastel Place Settings
Finally, I set up my pretty pastel place settings. I started with gothic, glam black placemats that have a surprise skull in the center! On top of these, I used pastel pink chargers, and then layered on mint and white striped dinner plates, and the most perfect coffin dessert plates from Daydream Society (they may be out of stock – HERE is a similar Amazon option).
Next to each setting, I placed matching black cutlery, wine glasses, shot glasses, and cups for water. A mint acrylic drink stirrer added a pop of color to the drink ware. For a fun final detail that tied the setting into the centerpiece, I folded the napkin into a coffin shape.
