How to Create a County Fair Inspired Party
Sensational Backdrop
First, I set the scene with a colorful cake table backdrop made out of fair tickets. I used a candy color palette of yellow, blue, pink and green, but in slightly muted tones to lend to the nostalgic feel. The backdrop highlighted a cute cake in the same color scheme that was set in front of it on a clear acrylic stand. Learn how to create the DIY County Fair Inspired Ticket Backdrop HERE.
TIP: Later in the party once the cake is cut, the stand can be moved and the backdrop can be used for photos!
Fair Food
Next, I set up a table where all sorts of mini fair food could be enjoyed. To start, I draped a soft blush fabric across the center of the table as a table runner. Then, I created a centerpiece and table number that combined pretty florals with a variety of colorful fair elements. Get the details for how to make it yourself HERE.
The place settings included layered mint and blue square-shaped paper plates with matching paper napkins. I then added silver plastic cutlery and carousel paper cups. Next, I placed a popcorn ball favor in a pretty pink popcorn box in the center of each setting. For a unique place card, I used adhesive vinyl letters to spell out the names of my guests on cotton candy paper cones.
TIP: A few colorful tickets at each place setting can be redeemed for drinks or games later, or can simply provide extra themed decor for your table.
Sweet Treats
Nothing says county fair like a variety of sweet treats to enjoy. In addition to the birthday cake, I set up a prize-winning pie stand and a cotton candy cart. I decked each of them out in muted candy colored decor, including checkered pennant banners perfect for the theme. The DIY cotton candy process made for a fun interactive station for guests to enjoy, while the mini pie station included pretty jars of preserves guests could take home as favors.
TIP: Set out farm fresh berries and cream on the pie stand for an extra county fair touch that guests can enjoy with their pies!
Win a Prize
Last but certainly not least, I set up a DIY County Fair Game and Prize Station to keep guests entertained. I chose an array of games that would be fun for friends of all ages, and kept the same candy colored theme throughout the area. Not only would guests have fun playing games, but they could win cute prizes that I hung in a display that really gave the area a county fair feel. Find out how to make the game and prize station HERE.
TIP: Decide how many coupons each prize is worth in advance, and how many coupons playing or winning games will provide. Guests can then trade in their coupons for prizes!
