How to Throw the Cutest Hello Kitty Birthday Party
Balloon Backdrop & Dessert Table
First, I made a pink balloon garland embellished with pops of light blue. Then, I added mylar balloons with Hello Kitty and Friends on them. I hung this garland over the dessert table.
Before I added desserts, I covered the table with a Hello Kitty and Friends plastic tablecloth.
In the center of the dessert table, I placed a simple white cake topped with pink macarons on a pink and white striped stand. I used Hello Kitty and Friends candles – it is a birthday party after all, you have to have candles! (Although, if you prefer not to put candles directly in your desserts, definitely check out my post about the Celebration Stadium candle holder!).
Then, on one side of the table, I placed candy jars of different sizes and shapes full of pink candy, decorated with pink bows, and elevated on cake stands to create dimension.
Next to the candy jars, I provided the cutest little pink pails that I also added pink bows to for guests to fill with their choice of candy.
On the other side of the table, I set up a cute carnival-style cardboard stand embellished with Hello Kitty and filled with cotton candy and ring pops. In front of that, I placed a pink and white striped jar of pink rock candy. Of course, I continued to add pink bows to all of this!
For the desserts, I set out Hello Kitty & Friends dessert plates.
Snacks & Hello Kitty Birthday Party Favors
Next to the dessert table, I set up a rolling cart with favor cups and popcorn snacks.
I elevated some of the favor cups on mini cupcake stands for some height, and the others I placed on pink and heart napkins. The cups contained a variety of cute trinkets that feel straight out of Hello Kitty’s charming world.
For the popcorn snacks, I cut characters out of Hello Kitty & Friends napkins and glued them to plain white popcorn boxes. I then added some pink bows to some, and placed them all on cutesy napkins.
Check out the video below to see how I added the characters to the boxes!

For another party favor, I used sweet mini purse favor boxes that I added a black outline to to match the Hello Kitty aesthetic. I filled these with more candy.
You can see how I made these in the video below!

Table Setting
I loved the way the mini purse favor boxes turned out, so I decided to place a few of them on the main table for décor.
In the center of the table, I placed a pink checkered hat box on a clear acrylic stand and filled it with flowers. Then I added a pink bow and white kitty ears to the top to create a sweet Hello Kitty centerpiece.
Place Settings
For place settings, I layered pink chargers with two types of alternating Hello Kitty dinner plates on top of pink grid placemats.
The first set of dinner plates featured Hello Kitty and her friends.
The second set of dinner plates were adorable giant Hello Kitty heads.
Next to each set of plates, I added a pink napkin, a Hello Kitty & Friends napkin, and a set of pink plastic utensils tied together with a pink bow.
Each setting also got a popcorn box, a Hello Kitty cup, and a white cat-ear headband with pink fringe.
But only the guest of honor’s seat gets the Hello Kitty “Birthday Girl” ribbon to wear!
You can see more of the table setting in the video and photos below:
