Halloween is the perfect time to transform your porch into a spooky spectacle. In years past, I’ve decorated my porch with a giant spider’s web, or turned my front yard into a pet cemetery. This year, I’m going with a haunted cornfield theme! Read on to see how to create a Haunted Cornfield Halloween porch that features eerie scarecrows, chilling skeletons, and a creepy pumpkin stand. From setting the mood with haunting decorations to arranging your scarecrows, I’ll help you create a space that’s both festive and frightful, and will leave your neighbors in awe.
How to Created a Haunted Cornfield Halloween Porch
“Field of Lost Souls” Front Porch
The first thing I set up for my Haunted Cornfield Halloween Porch was, of course, the front porch! I started by placing stacks of hay bales on either side of the entrance to the porch, and setting up skeleton guardians on top of them.
I also added black crows to the skeletons, because in haunted cornfields, the creepy crows aren’t scared of scarecrows, people are!
Additionally, I placed scarecrow-inspired jack-o-lanterns and rat skeletons on the other hay bales, and lanterns in front of both sides.
Above the center of the porch, I hung a “Field of Lost Souls” sign, surrounded by spider’s webbing and wagon wheel decorations.
In front of a plastic pumpkin patch backdrop, and flanked by corn stalks, I sat a spooky scarecrow on a chair. He had a bowl of candy on his lap for any trick-or-treaters brave enough to approach!
Pumpkin Stand
On one side of the porch, I set up a “Jack’s Back” pumpkin stand. I used a small wooden farm stand prop I have, and covered the shelves and floor in front of it with a variety of pumpkins and jack-o-lantern decorartions.
I also placed a skeleton sitting on the ground in front of the stand.
On top of the “Jack’s Back” sign, I set up another crow, mocking the skeleton bird inside the cage hanging from the farm stand.
In addition to the skeleton on the ground, I set up a terrifying scarecrow to guard the stand.
Scarecrows
On the other side of the porch, I added a couple more standing scarecrows, these with eerie pumpkin heads, sure to give anyone venturing up to the porch a fright.
If they aren’t scary enough by themselves, these scarecrows can also provide the perfect cover for a REAL LIFE skeleton to hide on Halloween night.
Just jump out when trick-or-treaters come by!
I hope this inspires you to make your home the go-to spot for eerie fun and festive memories with your own Haunted Cornfield Halloween Porch!
