The temperature is slowly dropping, the trees are starting to get ready to lose their leaves, and we’ve all started to crave pumpkin spice everything (you know it’s true!). That can only mean fall is coming! After the great success of our Summer block party, we decided to continue the community connection as we go into this new cozy season, while still keeping things safe and socially distanced. As with our summer block party, each family bubble was scheduled to attend in a time slot of their own, while others stood at a distance to chat and connect from afar. We also had plenty of sanitizer, gloves, and masks for anyone who needed one, and made sure to clean everything in between each family bubble. Read on to find out how I set everything else at this Fall Festival Block Party up!
Driveway Decor
First, I set up our driveway to be the first stop of the party. It was here that families could take photos in front of a show-stopping backdrop of balloons and painted pumpkins, before they headed to the backyard for activities and crafts! You can get all of the details for how to create the DIY Fall Photobooth Backdrop HERE.
There were also drink stations set up in the driveway for folks to grab some refreshing and cozy fall drinks to sip on as they made their way to the backyard. We had all of the fall favorites to get people in the fall fest spirit – apple cider, hot chocolate, pumpkin spice, and mulled wine!
Activities
Next, I set up the backyard for all of the fall fun! I used many of the same lawn games from our summer block party (with a new coat of paint to match the new color scheme), but also added some new games as well. Check out this DIY Oversized Pumpkin Checkers Game! You can get all of the details for how to create it yourself HERE.
Additionally, we had an area for bobbing for apples (we did this safely by cleaning everything in between each family and giving each family their own bag of apples), mini hayrides using a wagon of hay, and even a s’mores station.
Crafts
But one of the most popular activities had to be the DIY Fall Pumpkin Crafting Station! We provided cute little pumpkins and tons of art supplies for everyone to decorate their own keepsake pumpkins. I love activities that can do double-duty to provide party favors! Find out how I created this crafting station (and the adorable “fall” centerpiece I used on it) HERE.
