How to Set up a Fortune-Telling Halloween Dinner Party
Color Palette & Decorations
A lush velvety color palette of black, gold, and jewel tones will transport guests to the Victorian era as soon as they enter the room. Combined with plenty of candlelight and glittery stars, the mood will be instantly set for a night full of mystical magic. I also made sure to bring the Halloween feel into my fortune-telling party by including things like hanging bats, spiders and their webs, and plenty of skulls and bones!
The items you use to serve your cocktails or snacks can also be used to bring in the Halloween vibe. I decorated a bar cart with spooky skulls, more tarot cards, a candelabra with black taper candles, and, of course, potion bottles & glasses for adult beverages.
DIY Serving Tray
A DIY Ouija-Inspired Serving Tray proved to be the perfect way to ask the dead for a fortune…while doubling as a way to serve snacks! You can find instructions on how to make one HERE.
Tarot Card Ideas
One of the most versatile items I used to decorate with were actual tarot cards. That’s right, they aren’t just for telling fortunes! I strung them on twine to make a garland, placed them in the hands, mouths, and necks of my life-size skeleton guests, laid them out as table decor, and even used them to make cute DIY Palmistry Chart Place Cards for each place setting. Learn how to create your own tarot card place cards HERE.
DIY Fortune Teller Booth
When guests are done eating, they can take turns getting their fortunes told. The spooky skeleton sisters tell fortunes in this DIY Fortune Teller Booth! You can find details on how to set up your own HERE.
Even cynical guests will be sucked into enjoying the superstitious vibe at this Mystical Misfortune Halloween Dinner Party. You can get all the details to create it on Fun365 at Oriental Trading. Everything you need to See It, Shop It and Make with the click of a button! I hope you enjoy all the DIY’s and ideas as much as I enjoyed creating them.
