Any party planner knows – making guests feel special is super important. Adding personalized details and finding ways for guests to customize their party experience will make any celebration more fun for everyone! I had that in mind when I set up my Patriotic Summer Block Party recently, and I have to say – the set up was a success. Read on for all of my tips for how to create a Personalized Patriotic Party yourself!

How to Create a Personalized Patriotic Party for your Community
1. Provide patriotic wearables.
While I encouraged guests to come in their best red, white, and blue outfits, I wanted to provide even more ways for them to dress the patriotic part. I set out a variety of America-themed necklaces, bracelets, hats, bandanas and glasses for guests to use. This allowed them to showcase their personal style even more throughout the celebration!
I also ordered some fun 4th of July-themed shirts for my family, and sent guests the link for the shirts in advance, in case they wanted to order some too. So many styles means there’s something for everyone!
2. Serve food in individual star-spangled servings and drinks in amusing drink holders.
Another way to make things personal (in a good way!) is to provide individual portions of food. This is particularly important as we deal with an ongoing pandemic, but is almost always appreciated by guests (we all know – or are – the germ-o-phobes of the group)! Using personal snack cups or cones and food boxes means each person keeps their own food safe from others.
Funny forefather koozies are another fun way for guests to pick a way to show their personal sense of humor.
3. Have a craft station where guests can create their own personalized patriotic party favors.
Entertaining activities are a must at any party, and this party activity doubles as a way to add a bit of personalization as well! Provide a variety of patriotic arts and crafts for guests to decorate and take home with them.
4. Create personalized name lanyards for patriotic pin trading.
Pin trading used to be a popular past-time, and I think it’s time to bring it back! This patriotic version also provides party entertainment, and a personalized favor for guests to take home. You can get details for how to create these lanyards and the pin trading station HERE.
5. Set up a photo booth & community chalk walk.
Photo booths are a great way to save memories from the party, and having fun 4th of July themed props means guests can personalize their photos any way they want.
Another way for guests to add a personalized touch to the party is by contributing to a chalk walk! All you have to do is provide the chalk and the driveway or sidewalk space – guests will provide the personal creativity!
6. Add a patriotic candy bar for guests to choose their favorite sweet treats to take home.
Everyone loves sweet treats. A candy bar is an exciting way for guests to pick and choose their personal favorites to take home with them (or munch on during the party)! There are tons of red, white, and blue candy options out there. Set them in a variety of jars and containers, and let guests fill their patriotic pails.
7. Let guests pick their favors from a “Merch Stand”.
In addition to the pins and lanyards, we set up a “Merch Stand” where guests could pick and choose their personal favorite favors. Each family received a personalized name pail to fill up with goodies!
