Giving gift cards for Christmas can feel a little impersonal…but sometimes, it’s what people want! Gift cards allow people to get exactly what they want or need. Luckily, I have a way to add a bit more personality and thoughtful effort to giving a gift card – the cutest DIY Santa Hat Gift Card Holders! They’re made with inexpensive materials but definitely look more expensive at the end.
Read on for the step-by-step details!
How to Make DIY Santa Hat Gift Card Holders
Supplies:
- Santa Hat Frames – I got mine at Dollar Tree, but there’s a few left on Amazon here!
- Fur Ribbon
- Red Chenille-Style Ribbon
- Snowflake Embellishments
- Jingle Bells
- Scissors
- Hot Glue
Step 1:
First, cut the tinsel and remove it from the frame.
Step 2:
Tie the yarn to the frame about an inch from the bottom and begin wrapping it around the frame, moving upwards as you go.
Cut the excess and glue or tie the end at the top, leaving the ball of the hat uncovered.
Step 3:
Next, attach (glue) a strand or two of fur ribbon around the bottom to cover the frame.
Step 4:
Next, glue another strip of fur ribbon around the inside of the frame. This makes it look better, and keeps the inside of the gift card holder soft!
Step 5:
Use more fur ribbon to make a fluffy ball at the top of the hat.
Step 6:
Finally, decorate your hat! You can use whatever you’d like to do this. I used snowflakes and silver jingle bells for some extra holiday cheer when they’re shaken!
Then all you have to do is put your gift card in, and give it to the lucky recipient!
