I’m always looking for playful and unique themes for parties. I love to break the “rules” and step outside the box to create things that people might not expect. So when I found a ton of amazing rock and roll party supplies at Oriental Trading, I decided to kick traditional soft and sweet baby shower ideas to the curb for a bit to style a shower with attitude! For the future wild child in your life, here’s how to crank up the volume to create your own Boys Rock Baby Shower.
Born to Rock Backdrop
Guests should know as soon as they walk into the room that this baby boy will be born to rock! That’s why I created a show stopping backdrop out of balloons and fun DIY Signage. I kept the traditional baby blue color scheme, but added darker blue hues and some black and silver metallics to give it all an extra dose of cool. I also used metallic stars for the future rockstar. Find out how to create the “Born to Rock” guitar, record, and rocker onesie signage HERE.
VIP Cake Table
Then, I set up a cake and favor table that was so rockin’ it looked like you should need a backstage pass to access it! I used a silver sequin table cover for the wow factor. Neon green lightning bolts and navy stars added some pizzazz as table decor. These lightning bolts are fabric wrapped wire by one of my favorite Australian designers Twenty One Fifteen. Check out Anna’s hip designs on instagram.
The cake itself featured light blue rattles as cake toppers, with a funny and appropriate “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” sign. In addition to the cake, I set out sweet treats in the most adorable and cool DIY onesie favor boxes. Get the details on how to make them HERE.
My favorite part of the VIP dessert table area had to be the DIY Music Speaker Props I placed on either side of the table. Don’t they just scream rock and roll?! They were so easy to make. Learn how HERE.
Powerful Place Settings
Finally, I styled the table to complement the backdrop and dessert table without being too matchy. Rather than use the same silver table cover, I switched it up and used a blue sequin table cover instead. And while I used an additional lightning bolt centerpiece, I added a unique and fun table runner with personalized baby blue guitar picks and rattles. Spreading them down the center of the table.
The place settings themselves included silver chargers, and black and blue hexagonal dinner and dessert plates. Each color popped against the others in this simple setting. Black cutlery, striped and geometric napkins, and clear wine glasses completed the look. Then, for a final touch, I added musical star place cards that I easily created using gift bags from Oriental Trading.
The mom-to-be is sure to feel like a VIP at this Boys Rock Baby Shower. You can get all of the additional details for how I created it on Fun365 at Oriental Trading. Everything you need to See It, Shop It and Make It with the click of a button!
