Are you and your fiance globetrotters? Share your love of travel with your wedding guests by creating a Jet Setting Wedding! I recently styled a Travel Themed Wedding for Oriental Trading that will make guests feel like they have embarked on a celebratory journey around the world.
Tables that Tour the World
I started by creating centerpieces that just scream “travel”. I used a gold paint pen to cover the land on a globe to give it a more chic look. Then, I added small pink paper airplanes to it and set it atop a small white suitcase with a sparkly gold luggage tag. The final additions to my centerpieces were gold votive candles and larger paper airplanes made out of map paper. Small gold and white vases with lush florals on each end and glittery gold-framed map table markers completed the center of the tables.
I kept the gold, white, and light pink color scheme throughout my place settings as well. Elegant round plates of various sizes were topped with personalized napkins that provided the date that the “adventure begins” for the couple. But my favorite part of each place setting had to be the place cards on lanyards that I created to look like boarding passes. Each place card listed the guest’s name and table assignment.
Above the table, I hung a DIY Floral and Plane Chandelier that really tied the travel theme with the beauty of more traditional wedding florals. Learn how to make it HERE.
Finally, for the happy couple, I created unique DIY Travel Themed Chair Backers with cute titles of “pilot” and “co-pilot”. Get all the details for how to create them HERE.
First Class Cake
Then, it was time to really bring out the baggage (the good kind!) for the cake table. Rather than using an actual table, I stacked suitcases and placed a gorgeous travel-themed cake on top. I used posters of various travel destinations for a backdrop. Inflatable globes with personalized thank you notes on them served both to frame my cake area, and as favors for guests.
Bon Voyage to the Couple
Before the end of the night, invite guests to “come fly with us” at the DIY Plane Toss Station. Here, they can snap instant photos of themselves and pick up paper airplanes made out of map paper with best wishes for the bride and groom written on them. The photos can be saved as a unique type of guestbook, and the paper airplanes can be thrown over the couples heads as they leave the wedding – an original take on the rice toss! Find out how to set up the station HERE.
No one at this Jet Setting Wedding wedding will be asking “Are we there yet?”. Instead, they will be hoping the journey never ends! You can get all of the additional details for how I created it on Fun365 at Oriental Trading. Everything you need to See It, Shop It and Make It with the click of a button! I hope you enjoy all the DIY’s and ideas as much as I enjoyed creating them.
