Earlier last year, I styled a Modern Black and Gold Art Deco Wedding with the help of Oriental Trading. As we have just ushered in the roaring 20’s of this century, I thought it’d be the perfect time to share all of the details with you. This glamorous Gatsby-style wedding could easily be recreated as a dinner party! Regardless of the occasion, this classic theme will be perfect for any celebration in this new decade. Yes for the roaring 20’s!
Geometric Table Setting
Incorporating geometric shapes into decor is both a classic art deco style and a trend in modern decor as well. That’s why this theme can transport you so easily to the roaring 20’s and yet feel so contemporary at the same time. First, I used black tablecloths and geometric gold candle holders along the center of my table. Then, I created a show-stopping Modern Geometric and Floral Centerpiece to hold each table number. Get all of the details on how I created it HERE.
For my place settings, I used crystal cut glasses, gold hammered cutlery, and black octagonal plates on gold laser cut chargers. Black and gold geometric-lined napkins, tumblers, and smaller dessert plates that matched the DIY Origami Menu Envelopes I created. Learn how to create your own menu envelopes HERE. Finally, gold feather bottle opener favors and glittery gold laser-cut acrylic name cards completed each place setting.
Dramatic Drink Station
Champagne is a must for this type of opulent celebration. I covered a small round table with a black table cloth to serve as my drink station. I set out black-stemmed champagne flutes on a gold confetti serving tray. A lavish gold bowl set atop a geometric laser-cut charger held the cutest champagne bottle piñatas. And, because popping bottles of bubbles isn’t enough, I added black and gold confetti poppers to the table on top of a luxe gold-painted palm leaf.
Then, to finish the dramatic drink station, I created a Modern Art Deco Acrylic Sign to let guests know that the bar was open! The instructions for creating the sign can be found HERE.
Luxe Cake & Favor Table
The backdrop for my cake and favor table was so simple, yet so dramatic. To recreate the popular fan-inspired motifs of the art deco era, I arranged black and gold spray painted palm leaves in a sharp and elegant wall display. The table itself was covered in luxurious gold fabric. A simple and modern black cake, and black and gold candy favors were embellished by a gold geometric cake stand and signage.
Any celebration, whether wedding, dinner party, or otherwise, can feel glamorous by incorporating the ideas from this Modern Green and Gold Art Deco Wedding. You can get all the additional details to create it on Fun365 at Oriental Trading. Everything you need to See It, Shop It and Make It with the click of a button! I hope you enjoy all the DIY’s and ideas as much as I enjoyed creating them.
