Blame it on my free spirit, but there is something so magical to me about the idea of a desert-inspired wedding. With the help of Oriental Trading, I blended many of the different influences of Southwestern style to create a Santa Fe Inspired Wedding that I hope will inspire you to make a magical reception of your own!
When it came to choosing a color scheme, I decided to use coral to bring in the terra cotta feel of the pottery and tiles used in southwestern-style homes. I also used deep navy and turquoise to reflect the colors of the vast Santa Fe sky at different times of the day and night. Finally, I included metallic elements in warm copper tones to blend with the earthy vibe, while keeping the decor contemporary.
One of the places these colors came together in perfect Southwestern harmony was in my table settings. Along with the colors, I made sure to have geometric aspects that were inspired by the Mexican and Native American textiles and art common in the Southwest. These DIY Southwestern Chargers & Napkin Rings are the perfect combination of color and style that really brought home the look I was going for. You can get details on how to create them HERE.
Natural details make guests feel like they really are in the desert. Of course, this includes using cacti and succulents throughout! I used these plants as table decor, but also as a unique way to show guests which table they were assigned to. Not only are these “escort cards” cute and original, but they also serve as eco-friendly wedding favors your guests can take home with them! A key part of a Santa Fe-inspired wedding is a relaxed, Bohemian feel. I did this by creating a cozy seating area where guests can lounge on pillows and poufs. Adding desert plants and a gorgeous geometric background made this area perfect for Southwestern selfies.
