Sometimes the venue for a party provides all the inspiration I need to style a gorgeous party. The stunning Coopers Hall winery in Portland is one of those. When some friends of mine asked if I could help style their rehearsal dinner at the winery, I knew it’d be easy to play off of the beautiful wall of barrels in the space. Adding some soft and metallic tones to the decor really made this dinner surrounded by aging wines feel modern and chic. This type of venue and theme can also work perfectly for a couple’s shower, or perhaps even a bachelorette evening! Read on to find out more about how to style this Winery Rehearsal Dinner.
A Rosy and Bubbly Entrance
Start the party off on the right foot by having champagne and rosé right as guests step in. I set mine up using a rustic wood wine barrel as a welcome table. I wanted to keep most of the barrel visible, so rather than using a table cover, I simply draped a pink hydrangea garland over the top to add a bit of soft color. Guests sipped on these light wines as they waited for their turn to check the chic Wine Cork Seating Chart I created for the occasion. Get the details for how I created it HERE.
After their initial welcome, guests were invited to mingle around an additional wine barrel tasting station, and to snack on hors d’oeuvres before the formal dinner. I kept the rustic wood and soft pink theme throughout, but added some rose gold/copper elements for a metallic touch. Rose gold appetizer plates, polka dotted trays and napkins, and geometric candle holders really made the hors d’oeuvre table pop.
Wining and Dining
The rose gold touch was also brought into the formal dining tables. I used geometric rose gold chargers under a mix of white, copper, and natural wood plates – one for each course. Rose gold cutlery, soft pink napkins, and a classy collection of wine glasses completed my place settings.
Along the center of the table, I draped simple eucalyptus garlands, which added the perfect touch of soft natural green. On each side, I set out rose gold candle holders and white candles to bring some light to the setting. I then made DIY Wine Crate Centerpieces for each table. The rustic wood, lush florals, and deep wine-colored grapes made for stunning table decor, and wine bottles themselves served as table numbers. Find out how to make your own HERE.
A Surprising Take on Cake
After dinner, it’s usually time for dessert. However, because this was a unique venue, I thought it’d be fun to have a unique cake, that also went with the theme. What pairs better with wine than cheese?! I created a cheese “cake” out of hard, soft, and blue cheeses, and made sure to have an ample selection of wines nearby to go with each. I topped the “cake” with a cute rose gold “Cheers” topper.
Finally, for those who may want a more traditional dessert, I set out delicious and sweet Strawberries and Cream Cheesecake. This easy no-bake dessert looks great layered in clear wine glasses. Get the recipe HERE.
