Get ready to step into a world of candy canes, maple syrup, and non-stop holiday joy: it’s an Elf Movie Holiday Party! This movie is a family favorite every-year rewatch for us, and this party is all about embracing your inner elf with vibrant decor, sweet treats, and playful activities straight out of Buddy’s magical world. Read on to see how I set it all up!
P.S. I got most of my supplies at Oriental Trading. You can find many of them on my LTK post!
How to Set up an Elf Movie Holiday Party
Decorations
First, I set a snowy scene with some Buddy the Elf cardboard decorations. The first is a life-sized Cardboard cutout of a very excited Buddy.
Next, more Elf Movie Holiday Party décor: some yard signs with Buddy quotes on them hanging on the walls.
On the window in the room, I added snowflake window clings and a Buddy the Elf photo yard sign.
In the center of the party table, over a sprinkling of faux snow, I set up some bottle brush-style snowy trees, faux snowballs, and yellow NYC taxi figurines.
Activities
Oriental Trading has everything you might need to keep guests easily entertained at this party! I placed an Elf-themed Bingo game on the table which included movie-themed items like Buddy’s shoes, his hat, a raccoon, a narwhal, and more.
Coloring placemats are also a fun source of entertainment, and guests can get creative with Elf-themed crayons.
I also set out several Elf activity sheets – there is something for everyone in this variety pack!
Fun multicolored Elf pens are perfect for these worksheets!
For more active games, I provided a red and green elf hat ring toss game, and a Buddy the Elf disc drop game.
Place Settings
For place settings, I used Buddy the Elf-themed tablewear, including a Buddy sneaking through NYC napkin, and a dinner plate proclaiming that “There’s room for everyone on the nice list!”. The dessert plates featured Buddy’s famous “Son of a Nutcracker!” line, and I added Rudolph and elf boot cups with “nice” silly straws.
Also on the table – a bottle of Mrs.Butterworth’s Elf-themed syrup, for anyone curious or brave enough to get a taste of Buddy’s sweet diet – syrup on EVERYTHING!
Hot Cocoa Station
After food and activities, it’s a great time for some hot cocoa! I set up a fun Elf-themed hot cocoa bar in the corner of the room on a bar cart.
The top shelf of the bar cart included bags of instant hot chocolate, an insulated pitcher for hot water, napkins, and various toppings and cocoa stir sticks, including sprinkles, marshmallows, and candy canes. I filled the remaining space on this shelf with napkins and Christmasy decorations.
On the bottom shelf, I added some Elf-themed disposable coffee cups for to-go cocoa.
I also set up a jar of silver and red holiday chocolate kisses for a take-home treat.
In the middle of the bottom shelf, I set out our main party favors – personalized Buddy the Elf tins holding giant chocolate chip cookies!
Once everything was set up, all that was left to do was to get ready to create magical memories and celebrate the season, Buddy style!
